Established in 2013, NHVR administers the Heavy Vehicle National Law in all states and territories except NT and WA, overseeing more than 119,000 registered prime movers, 1.05 million heavy vehicle units, and 273,000 operators.About the rolePartner with NHVR leaders to provide WHS support, foster a strong safety culture, and enhance the Safety Management System and key training programs. Reporting to the WHS Manager and collaborating with a national team, you'll play a key role in developing safety maturity through coaching, mentoring, and advising stakeholders. You'll also align safety practices and risk controls across Northern Queensland and oversee WHS training and development, building capability across all levels.Key Responsibilities:Build a safety culture in the Northern Region by integrating critical risk management into daily operations;Support, mentor, and upskill business leaders to assess and manage WHS risk, including workshop facilitation and training sessions;Develop and execute a WHS training strategy for NHVR leaders, covering legislation, PCBU obligations, safety culture and leadership, and risk management;Coordinate and co-facilitate safety training in partnership with external providers;Maintain and enhance WHVR's e-learning content on WHS (Litmos);Facilitate the continuous improvement of the NHVR's WHS management system;Partner closely with leaders to advance critical risk knowledge and deliver safety communication and training;Conduct risk assessments and maintain risk registers for business units;Participate in WHS audits, investigations, and assurance activities;Develop high-level documentation, including reports, WHS policies, and work procedures;Engage with stakeholders to address strategic and operational WHS challenges.About YouTo be successful in this role, you will bring at least 10 years of experience in a WHS practitioner role, with demonstrable experience in leading key initiatives and managing projects in complex, fast-paced environments. Your expertise in Work Health and Safety legislation, regulations, and codes of practice enables you to provide practical, jurisdictional guidance across multiple states.With a collaborative mindset and exceptional interpersonal skills, you excel at engaging with internal and external stakeholders, influencing outcomes, and driving safety programs forward.
