About the role Based in Townsville, the WHS Business Partner – Training Lead is responsible for partnering with NHVR leaders to provide support and advice on all matters relating to work health and safety, cultivating a strong safety culture and maturing the NHVR's Safety Management System.

This is a permanent full-time role, based in our Northern QLD office in Townsville.
Inter/intra state travel will be a requirement of the role.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities Actively build a safety culture and promote safety management activities within the Northern Region. Support, mentor, and upskill business leaders to better assess and manage WHS risk, including workshop facilitation and training sessions. Provide leadership and coaching to managers against the WHS unified risk register to ensure they reflect the current WHS risks of the NHVR. Develop a training strategy for NHVR leaders (organisational wide) on all aspects of WHS Legislation, obligations of PCBUs, just culture and management of risks. Engage with providers and coordinate or co-facilitate the execution of the safety training strategy. Review, maintain and develop safety content for NHVR's e-learning system. Provide advice and recommendations on workplace health and safety (WHS) matters. About You As the ideal candidate, you will be an experienced WHS Business Partner who brings with them a breadth of knowledge ideally from either transport, regulatory or heavy industries.
You will take pride in your ability to cultivate relationships with a variety of different stakeholders whilst having the ability to mentor and educate along the journey.
You will have an honest communication style along with a positive can-do attitude.
You will be passionate about engaging with leaders and employees in changing safety mindsets, habits and behaviours to improve culture and overall safety.
You will have: 8 – 10 years' experience in a Senior / Business Partner WHS role. Demonstrated ability to effectively plan and lead initiatives and manage projects effectively and with competing priorities. Demonstrated ability to consult with internal and external stakeholders on Health and Safety programs of work. Demonstrated ability to conduct safety investigations and address root causes and latent factors. Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills. Comprehensive understanding of Work Health and Safety legislation, regulations, and codes of practice. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team. Tertiary qualifications in Health and Safety and a Cert IV in Training and Assessment (highly desirable). Experience undertaking investigations using ICAM methodology (highly desirable).
