About the role
Full-time opportunity located in Brisbane CBD.
The Treasury Derivative Accountant will assist the Senior Accountants in achieving financial objectives and deliverables and act in accordance with Stanwell's business process, regulatory obligations, and internal and external reporting requirements.
Reporting into the Treasury Manager, you will be responsible for assisting in the accounting for derivative financial instruments and involves ensuring accurate and timely reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing insightful analysis to support decision-making processes.
Key activities include:
Assist in preparing and reporting of derivatives activity for internal financial reporting and the financial disclosures included in the company monthly and annual reporting.
Complete monthly hedge accounting and corporate accounting journal entries, including market-to-market and realised gains/losses, for posting in the general ledger.
Ensure generated ledger postings are in accordance with approved accounting policies.
Assist the Senior Treasury Accountants in the monthly recording of revenue and derivatives transactions, including the investigation of anomalies and reconciliation of reports.
Review, improve and develop documentation of business and system processes.
About you
Excellent analytical and organisational skills with the ability to set priorities and work to deadlines.
Proven accounting/financial experience with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with various departments.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
Familiarity with accounting software systems beneficial and financial modelling tools (Intermediate Excel essential). Fundamental understanding of derivative instruments and their accounting treatment.
