About the RoleThe Olympic Dam Surface is one of Australia's largest and most complex minerals processing operations, it is unique in producing Copper, Uranium, Gold and Silver.
As a Surface Control Room Specialist you will be safely operating and optimising the Concentrator, Hydro-SX, Acid Plant-Feed Preparation, Smelter or Refinery Areas on a shift-by-shift basis to achieve safety and production targets.
You will be working collaboratively in the Surface Control Operations team, together with other Control Ops Specialists, Production, Maintenance, Technology and Technical teams to continuously improve the performance across the Surface.
Please note this is a full-time permanent role working on a 7/7 day/night rotating roster at Olympic Dam, with residential, FIFO from Adelaide, or DIDO options available.
In this role you will: Monitor and analyse process data to make informed decisions that deliver safe stable productionProactively communicate with a range of stakeholders to influence and guide maintenance and production teams in a time constrained environmentEstablish collaborative working relationships within the Control Operations team and other departments to maximise performance between areasEnsure effective exchange of information at shift changeoverEmbrace a process safety methodology for the operation of the assets through the review and development of processes and proceduresDemonstrate the ability to make timely decisions and work calmly in high pressure situationsDevelop skills in Plant Operation across multiple areasUtilise SAP, AMPLA, PI and ShiftLog to maintain business performanceContribute to and support the Shift Supervisor's decisions and communicate these to team membersAbout YouAbility to work effectively within a chemical or minerals processing operationExperience using control systems including or similar to CITECT / SCADA, and OSI PIDemonstrate the confidence to lead by example, hold yourself and others accountable, and coach othersCollaborative and able to communicate across multiple levels and disciplinesAbility to interpret critical information and make decisionsEnthusiast to learn new skills and accept challengesPrevious Control Room experience working with mills/floatation circuits will be highly regarded, but not essentialGood computer literacy with the ability to use SAP and AMPLAAbout Our ProcessAt BHP, we are committed to employing individuals who align with the BHP Charter Values and meet the requirements of the role.
