Demographic Insights and Statistics; Queensland Government Statistician's Office (QGSO); Economics and Fiscal; Brisbane City or Townsville.
This role is in the Demographic Insights and Statistics group within Queensland Government Statistician's Office (QGSO). Project activities include brokering data from data custodians and other stakeholders, extracting insights and value from data through building statistical models to examine trends and develop predictors, reporting complex outputs in client focussed products, and leveraging technologies to develop interactive visualisation tools.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide demographic and high level statistical analysis and advice on a broad range of demographic and social issues.
• Compile and publish demographic and social statistics for Queensland and manage QGSO demographic web content.
• Provide and/or oversee high level technical advice, information and support to clients and senior officers on complex and diverse issues.
• Manage and contribute to a suite of statistical programs used to undertake routine analyses.
• Exercise judgement to coordinate the management of client requirements and competing team priorities.
• Prepare and coordinate preparation of reports, submissions, briefing notes, presentations, documents, speeches and correspondence.
• Lead project teams as required and directly project manage complex activities. Ensure outputs satisfy Office standards for integrity, accuracy and timeliness based on quality principles and methodologies.
• Participate in strategic and business planning, coordination of workflows, resource management and quality assurance.
• Represent the Office at state/federal conferences and internal/external high level meetings and interdepartmental working groups.
• Foster effective networks and consultation between the Office and industry, academia, other levels of Government and other stakeholders.
SUCCESS CRITERIA: To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate:
• Experience managing complex projects.
• Experience modelling population and dwelling projections.
• High level experience using 'R' to analyse and model data and create data visualisations.
• Experience mentoring others in technical skills.
• High level written and verbal communication skills.
