Company : Hastings Deering (Australia) Ltd About the Role: Hastings Deering is recruiting for an experienced Safety Manager to join us on a permanent, full-time position in our Mackay, QLD-based branch.
Reporting directly to the Executive Manager - Safety & Sustainability the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of safety and sustainability functions in designated Business Centres; ensuring compliance with Company safety systems and standards as well as legislation and Business Centre Safety Improvement plans.
Key responsibilities: This role will involve the following key duties and responsibilities: Implement safety strategies and initiatives to improve safety performance whilst ensuring compliance with Company safety systems and standards and OH&S Legislation.
In conjunction with the Executive Manager – Safety & Sustainability identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks, raise safety awareness, and improve safe work practices.
Ensure mine related safety alerts, cases, and incidents are managed accordingly.
Oversee incident investigations and lead investigations.
Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to Safety Advisors and other internal stakeholders including Business Centre Managers as required.
Manage employee safety programs.
Develop and ensure effective communication and relations with the client and act as Company liaison for on-site matters.

Essential requirements: You will bring the following skills and experience to the role: Relevant experience in a safety role within a diversified Company Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety Experience in Workplace Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordination Previous experience managing HSE policies and procedures for a multi geographic diverse organisation within the Mining or Heavy Equipment industry ICAM or recognised root cause analysis qualifications Lead Auditor and Cert IV in Workplace Training Assessment (Desirable) You will have access to: Opportunities for training, mentorship, and career development specific to your role.
