About the OPPORTUNITY We have exciting new opportunities for Electrical Technicians for Systems and IPMS to join our Hobart Class Destroyer Capability Enhancement, Test and Commissioning Program.

As an Electrical Technician you will be responsible for installation, repair, commissioning and maintenance of systems and equipment.
This involves providing input into the design, development and implementation of systems and equipment and actual conduct of installing, set to work, acceptance testing and maintaining the system and equipment against technical requirements.
Key activities: Set to work, test, integrate and commission equipment and systems Development and preparation of accurate technical documentation including test procedures and reports Provide expert technical (hands on) services to projects Provide input to planning and maintenance of schedules Assist in the design, construction and testing and acceptance of systems Defect analysis, resolution and provision of detailed technical reports Contribute to the analysis of complex technical problems to create solutions where precedent may not exist Make decisions and facilitate problem-solving guided by policies, procedures and business plan; with guidance and oversight from manager Working with minimum supervision, manage own time to address competing task priorities, ensuring all tasking is completed in accordance with assigned budget, schedule and priority Work as directed by Test & Commissioning Technical Lead The ship platform systems electrical Subject Matter Expert (SME) assumes a crucial role conducting sea trials tests, encompassing its preparation, proficient management, and meticulous execution.
Carry out tasks in a safe manner including planning isolations of systems and writing/reviewing risk assessments.
Attend training where required to upskill and develop into a Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel (SQEP).
About YOU Certificate III or relevant experience in an electrical engineering discipline Significant post-trade experience in a complex production environment Strong problem solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure and multi task simultaneously within a production environment Demonstrated communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with employees and customers at all levels Demonstrated professional integrity, advanced level of technical knowledge, objectivity, acceptance of responsibility, maturity of judgement Desire to seek and share good practice and knowledge locally to continuously improve own practices whilst improving safety on the worksite Self-motivated and proactive to support working autonomously diagnosing production issues, developing solutions and ensuring issues are driven to closure We believe in hiring for potential, we know that some candidates hesitate if they don't tick all the boxes.
