About the Opportunity An opportunity is available for an Electrical Designer to support design and drafting activities for ASC and the Royal Australian Navy in support of the Collins Class Submarine (CCSM) Life of Type Extension (LOTE) Program.
The role will see the successful applicant applying engineering knowledge for the electrical design, modification and integration of submarine systems such as Power Conversion and Distribution (PC&D), Propulsion, Power Generation and other impacted Electrical Systems.
This role may also suit a recent Engineering graduate who is passionate about Electrical design, or it may be a great career transition/ development opportunity for an Electrical tradesperson.
This is a full-time opportunity based at our Osborne site in SA.
Responsibilities Perform technically challenging electrical design and drafting tasks which demonstrate knowledge of engineering fundamentals Undertake detail design activities from assembly to system level, production of electrical drawing outputs such as Cable Block Diagrams, Schematics, Connection details and Cable Installation data Selection of electrical components suitable for installation and manufacture Provide input to technical decisions that are safe, practical and suitable for implementation Provide support to disciplines within and departments outside of Engineering to deliver engineering products and services Conduct business in a professional manner with minimal supervision About you Certificate III in Engineering/Trade qualification or higher Experience in design and integration of electrical systems Proven ability in the use of AutoCAD to produce 2D Electrical drawings (Experience with Autodesk Inventor 3D desirable) Understanding of, and development of, engineering documentation and drawings Sound written and oral communication skills High standard of personal organisation and attention to detail Ability to build and maintain interpersonal and professional relationships with stakeholders, as well as the drive to motivate yourself and others, and embrace personal development Familiarity with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) tools and procedures (desirable) Knowledge and understanding of Defence Seaworthiness Management System (DSWMS) and its application to Engineering Delegations and Risk Levels (desirable) Knowledge of Submarines or the Shipbuilding engineering environment (desirable) Eligibility This role requires a current National Police Clearance and a NV1 Australian Defence Security Clearance.
