Providing pivotal services throughout regional and metropolitan Western Australia, the Agency supports a range of diverse activities including intensive responses such as the protection of children, preventative responses such as housing assistance and disability support, and enabling activities such as urban development and providing community grants.This full-time, fixed-term Senior Executive Service appointment is for a period of up to 5 years and will be based at Communities' new, purpose-built offices in Fremantle.The successful applicant or applicants assessed as suitable through this process may receive further offers of contract employment that arise within the next 12 months across the Department of Communities.The role will:Lead the day-to-day transactional and tactical Human Resource functions.Drive the CPO's direction for Human Resource functions including HR business partnering, employee relations, and employee service centre (transactional service).Lead a team of senior HR practitioners to deliver business outcomes and high-impact projects to create solutions and continuous improvement.As the Director Human Resources, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our workforce. You will lead key strategic HR initiatives, ensuring our operations align with Public Sector legislation and broader regulatory frameworks.Your leadership will guide our approach to workforce planning, change management, and industrial relations. With a focus on compliance and integrity, you will also foster an inclusive culture that supports innovation and development.More specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Leading and managing all HR services, including Industrial Relations and compliance with HR standards and legislation.Acting as a strategic partner to the business, collaborating with executives to plan, design, and develop future workforce strategies.Providing expert advice on recruitment, labour relations, work health and safety, and performance management.Building and maintaining strong relationships with unions and external stakeholders, representing the Department in negotiations.Driving a performance development program to support managers in leading their teams effectively.To succeed in the position, you must have demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of HRM practices, including workforce planning, recruitment, and industrial relations; with a proven ability to lead change initiatives and influence positive organisational outcomes.At Communities, everyone is a leader, and we aim to build the impact of our leadership in our important work for the sector and community.
