About the opportunity The Digital Engineering Application Manager will oversee daily operations and future direction of our Digital Engineering, Design, and Geospatial Applications.
SA Power Networks operates an enterprise GIS providing geospatial capability for internal and external stakeholders.
The core platform is ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise 10.9 hosted in Microsoft Azure.
ArcGIS Utility Network will shortly manage the distribution network model.
Supporting platforms include ArcGIS Online, VertiGIS Geocortex, Safe Software FME suite and Mipela X-Info Assurance suite.
The SA Power Networks engineering design landscape comprises a majority of Autodesk products, with 2023 version Map3D, Civil3D, Electrical and Inventor products being used for design purposes and the resultant design data being stored within Autodesk Vault.
Bentley Microstation CE (10.17) is also used in some departments to maintain older designs or to perform work for external parties.
Product Lifecycle Management is handled by lifecycles within Autodesk Vault.
A range of smaller specialist applications are also used by the organisation, including PLS-CADD, Microstran 9.2, MathCAD 8.0 and PVCase 2023.
All of the above products are currently installed and used on-premises.
This role ensures efficient application use, maintains strong stakeholder relationships, manages a team of specialists, maintains a Centre of Excellence and collaborates with various departments for system optimisation.
Key role objectives include Strategy: Lead in creating roadmaps and strategies, ensuring alignment with Digital & Technology strategies.
Think strategically about future business, product, and technical challenges for efficient innovation.
System Management: Manage the team to ensure reliable application operation, applying risk, quality, customer focus, and safety management frameworks consistently.
Team Leadership: Oversee talent acquisition and management within the team, aligning skills with current and future technology roadmaps.
Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
Stakeholder Management: Represent SA Power Networks at external forums and industry working groups, driving ownership and prioritisation across key applications.
Troubleshooting: Resolve system issues, minimising business disruption.
Centre of Excellence: Develop and maintain a Centre of Excellence across the Enterprise Application department, covering areas like capacity management, staff training, application support, monitoring, and governance.
Reporting: Generate and present regular reports on system performance, project progress, and other relevant metrics.
Essential role requirements Degree qualifications in IT or a related discipline and/or equivalent skills and knowledge gained through experience.
Extensive experience in leading an application operational support team supporting a complex landscape of business systems, while meeting agreed Service Level Agreements and a track record of developing strong business relationships.
