Deputy Chief Financial Officer

A prestigious and dynamic higher education institution seeks a skilled financial leader for a high-impact role as Deputy CFO .
Reporting to the CFO, this position will drive transformative financial planning and commercial strategy, supporting the university's strategic initiatives and sustainable growth.
Role Overview:
Lead the financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting frameworks to advance short-, medium-, and long-term financial objectives.
Drive strategic and operational transformation of financial frameworks, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and the university's long-term financial sustainability.
Develop and oversee high-level business cases, scenario analyses, and cost models to guide data-driven decision-making.
Act as a senior advisor on financial strategy, capitalising on growth opportunities and optimising existing and new initiatives for value creation.
Supervise and develop a team of finance professionals, fostering a collaborative, performance-driven culture.
Partner closely with the CFO to enhance the university's internal funding and reporting frameworks, adapting to sector-specific challenges and emerging technologies.
Maintain strategic stakeholder relationships with senior executives, deans, and key functional leaders, supporting financial literacy and cross-functional collaboration.
Ensure continuous improvement in financial management, policies, and service delivery, emphasising innovation and compliance with evolving regulations.
Lead the design and implementation of policies, practices, and systems that enhance financial decision-making through technology and data analytics.
About you:
Postgraduate qualifications in Business or Commerce and membership with a relevant industry body, such as CPA Australia.
Extensive leadership experience within complex organisational environments, demonstrating robust financial governance, budget management, and strategic planning expertise.
Proven track record of stakeholder partnership, commercial acumen, and the ability to balance high-level strategy with hands-on operational responsibilities.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and people management skills, with experience in developing high-performance teams.
