Database Administrator

Queensland State Government  Day rate $1200 per day + super  Immediate Start  Fortitude Valley, QLD  Temp Contract Until May 2025 with potential to extend  The Role Reporting to the Lead Database Administrator, this role is critical to maintaining and optimizing our Oracle and SQL Server database environments.
As DBA, your role will manage capacity, performance, and security, supporting system resilience and data integrity across platforms.
Key Responsibilities Manage Oracle and SQL databases, ensuring stability, performance, and security.
Implement and maintain best practices in disaster recovery, backup, and continuity planning.
Support data architecture, manage data collection, and optimize storage management.
Work collaboratively on system integration, configuration, and capacity planning.
Lead process improvements through automation and tool deployment.
Communicate and collaborate effectively with internal teams and external service providers.
Essential Requirements 3+ years of database administration experience, particularly with Oracle and SQL Server.
Proficiency with platform monitoring (SolarWinds) and automation scripting (PowerShell, T-SQL, PL/SQL).
Hands-on experience with platform automation and configuration management.
Strong analytical skills, with experience in problem-solving and process improvement.
Excellent communication skills to engage with stakeholders and deliver outstanding service.
Qualifications & Certifications Relevant tertiary qualification in IT or related field.
Technical certifications (e.g., Azure DBA, OCP, MCSA) are advantageous.
