Job Description About the role People First Bank is Australia's leading mutual banking organisation and a genuine, member owned alternative to the major banks. We are looking to hire 2 Data Engineers who will be responsible for the successful delivery of business intelligence information across the organisation by applying analytical and technical skills to enhance data used by the business, deliver continuous improvement, and identify opportunities for data science and advanced analytics.
This role is offered as a 1-year fixed term contract with possible extension or permanency.
Key Responsibilities: Liaise with business departments to evaluate and determine data needs and requirements. Apply technical and analytical skills to solutions to improve People First Bank's reporting, advanced analytics, and data insights. Work with Business Intelligence Analysts, Data Base Administrators, Business Analysts, IT and other key stakeholders to maintain, organise and improve data warehouse solutions. Assist in the development of future business intelligence strategy and data governance decisions for Heritage. Maintain effective commercial relationships with external service providers to deliver optimal data management and reporting outcomes for the business. Handle the day-to-day operations of existing on-prem and cloud data warehouses. Engineer & model curated Data Warehouse solutions to support BI objectives and timeframes in relation to the development of key analytics and metrics. Partner with technical teams to build maturity and capability in relation to implementing data capture, ETL, validation, and test methods. Support the coordination of BI reporting processes and data governance objectives across business units. Maintain and assist in data model documentation, data dictionary, data flow, data mapping and other MDM and Data Governance documentation. About you You are the go-to expert in crafting, implementing, and sustaining resilient data processing pipelines. Your role is pivotal in guaranteeing the effectiveness, precision, and scalability of our data infrastructure, impacting not only the Data and Insights team but also extending across the entire organization.
Knowledge and Experience: Proficiency in SQL with the ability to understand and write advanced SQL. Proficiency in multiple languages including Python and SAS in a source controlled environment utilising command line tools such as Git. ETL tools (Wherescape is helpful but not essential). Data Visualisation and BI tools (Qlik preferred but not essential). Ability to meet deadlines and produce quality results under pressure. Ability to respond to rapidly changing requirements.
