About your role:
As a Communications Technician you are responsible for undertaking installation, testing, repair, and commissioning tasks limited to complex electrical/electronic and communications system components in a Transmission related environment. You'll develop and implement plant and equipment modifications to overcome identified problems.
You will also be required to perform asset inspection, audit maintenance and be responsible for the provision of a safe work environment through the identification, development, and implementation of risk control measures.
About you:
Your stability as a team player with the confidence to build and maintain good working relationships in an integrated team is important to the success in this role and your ability to travel to undertake work and participate in an on-call roster.
Critical to your success in the role, you must have:
A relevant communications trade certificate.
A restricted electrical license.
A Structured cabling license.
You must be in the process or willing to obtain an AQF6 qualification (Associate Degree / Advanced Diploma) or equivalent in a relevant Communications or Engineering field.
Demonstrated knowledge of the operation, maintenance and safety requirements of Secondary Systems and Communications in a Transmission substation environment.
Experience with some of the following telecommunications equipment but not limited to:
IP Switching
P25 Radio Systems
SCADA interfacing technologies
Optical fibre, splicing, installation, and testing
PDH and SDH
The following key desired attributes will also be considered in the application:
AQF6 qualification (Associate Degree / Advanced Diploma) or equivalent in a relevant Communications or Engineering field or willing to work towards.
Electrical Fitter and Mechanic License.
High Risk Licenses, including Riggers, Doggers, Forklift and/or EWP.
You will be required to respond to pre-employment medical questions.
