About This Opportunity We are looking for a casual trainer and/or assessor within the UQ Skills, specialising in Agriculture and Rural Operations. Trainers and assessors may be required to work on and off the campus, resulting in some travel as required.
Key responsibilities will include: Provide expert support in creating training and assessment processes, tools, and resources.
Participate in validation and moderation activities to improve training quality continuously.
Oversee classroom preparations, including completing rolls, induction paperwork, and enrolment forms, and ensure documents are distributed to appropriate staff.
Develop and follow structured training and lesson plans for each class.
Prepare necessary tools and equipment for training sessions and practical demonstrations.
Track and record student results, attendance, and progress, and assess assignments, providing feedback and managing reassessments.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of courses, competencies, and training packages, preparing lesson notes and training aids as needed.
Ensure compliance with UQ Skills policies, ASQA standards, and maintain confidentiality of all student records and assessment materials.
About You TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training including updated units and delivery of a range of agriculture based courses and extensive relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
Knowledge of Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) standards that relate to the quality aspects of learning, assessment and mapping of materials with the skills to comprehend and implement whilst training.
Demonstrated understanding of the University's risk assessment database and policies and procedures or the demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge.
Demonstrated skills in implementing the Principles of Assessment and Rules of Evidence, or the ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge.
Sound knowledge and understanding of the OH&S requirements for specialist area being taught and current industry practice and regulations.
High level skills in the use of a wide range of computer applications in a network environment particularly the use of the Microsoft Office suite in a large organisation or the ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge.
High level written and oral communication skills and organisational skills, including the ability to establish co-operative working relations with staff across the UQ Skills sites and the wider University and prioritise competing work demands with a high level of attention to detail.
The ability to influence and motivate others with the ability to present topical teaching material in a meaningful, stimulating manner.
The successful candidate may be required to complete background checks including, right to work in Australia, criminal history and education checks.
