About Kurbingui Youth & Family Development Kurbingui Youth and Family Development (Kurbingui) is a not-for-profit Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation that offers services primarily to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders, individuals, families, children, and young people living within the Greater Brisbane, Moreton Bay and Southeast Qld regions.

Kurbingui delivers various community services covering areas such as employment and training, family support, domestic and family violence response, alcohol and substance abuse, cultural education and engagement programs, support for families and children from preschool to tertiary education, recreation and sports, early years, families, children and youth supports, women's and men's programs, cultural group activities, Youth Justice and NDIS.

The Role The Support Worker is responsible for supporting practitioners working with young people who have been identified as at-risk or high risk to engage them in pro-social activities, outreach programs, and other early intervention and/or diversionary measures to achieve positive behaviour change. This role also incorporates the Family-Led Decision Making, working with young people and their families to prevent re-offending through culturally appropriate family and community support.

This role will focus on young people involved with or at risk of involvement in the Youth Justice system, including those who may be detained or on Youth Justice orders. The support worker will assist in facilitating FLDM meetings, help the young person understand and adhere to bail conditions, creating support plans, and implementing these plans in collaboration with the young person, their family, and stakeholders.

The position at times requires work outside normal business hours due to the program offering outreach diversion activities, such as evening work.

Key Responsibilities Engage with at-risk youth to support their positive connection to family, education, and community. Assist in facilitating FLDM meetings, identifying relevant family members and stakeholders. Help develop and implement culturally appropriate support plans. Provide support and advocacy with various agencies and service providers. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to assist in the delivery of a comprehensive support system. Assist in maintaining effective relationships with government and non-government agencies, including Youth Justice Service Centres, Queensland Police Service, and Child Safety Service Centres. Key Selection Criteria Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and cultures, and the issues affecting these communities. Willingness and ability to work within a culturally competent context and Kurbingui Youth Development's mission, vision, and values. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with Indigenous families and communities. Understanding of case management processes and database management. Experience working with young people within a strength-based, trauma-informed framework. Knowledge of Youth Justice and restorative justice practices, relevant legislation, and policies. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and manage time efficiently. Competence in using business technology and applications (MS Outlook, Word, Excel). Qualifications/Certifications Qualifications and/or equivalent professional experience in social work, community services, youth work, with a focus on Youth Justice. Current Drivers Licence (QLD). Possession of a 'Positive Notice' Working With Children Blue Card. Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain). Criminal History check (or willingness to undertake). Remuneration This position offers a competitive remuneration package in line with the 'Fisher' & '316 Regulation' pay scale and Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 including:
