Rio Tinto seeks a Botanist to conduct field surveys, assess biological values, and support environmental approvals in the Pilbara.
Rio Tinto operates the world's largest integrated portfolio of iron ore assets. These assets include a world-class, integrated network of 15 iron ore mines, four port facilities, a 1,700-kilometre rail network and related infrastructure. Rio Tinto is expanding operations in the Pilbara to epic proportions while introducing next generation technologies to deliver greater efficiency, lower production costs and improved health, safety, and environmental performance.
About the Role:
WorkPac is currently seeking a Botanist to join Rio Tinto's State Agreements and Approvals team. In this role, you will collaborate with a team of biological advisors and consultants, contributing to industry research, field surveys, and innovative approaches to assessing the biological values of the Pilbara region. The ideal candidate will have experience with Pilbara flora and a strong background in biological assessment.
Key Responsibilities will include:
Prepare technical reports, data, analysis and provide technical advice to support government and environmental approval requirements. Contribute to the development and improvement of biological assessment methods, processes and technologies to ensure continuous improvement. Participate in biological surveys in remote Pilbara areas. Undertake effective survey planning including, sampling design, logistics and health and safety. Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and technical specialists. Skills & Experience Required:
Degree in botany, ecology, environmental science, or equivalent. Demonstrated experience as a field botanist, ideally in the resources sector or Pilbara region. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Experience with GIS software, preferably ArcGIS. Valid C-Class Driver's Licence. How to Apply:
