North Burnett Regional Council offers a dynamic working environment with opportunities for professional development and initiatives to support a healthy work/life balance.About the roleReporting to the Work Health Safety Coordinator, the role of WHS Advisor is responsible for facilitating compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and codes of practice by actively managing and monitoring the Health and Safety Management System, providing accurate and up-to-date information, support, and advice, undertaking regular compliance inspections and audits to identify non-compliance and proactively investigate WHS risks. This is an ideal role for a safety professional looking to gain a broad range of experience and extend their skillset due to the diverse nature of local government.About youYou will genuinely care about ensuring great safety outcomes for our teams. You will have diverse experience and be suitably qualified, having completed a minimum Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety – (or undertaking and have nearly completed this Certificate combined with demonstrated extensive, multi-industry experience).You will enjoy working collaboratively in a geographically dispersed team to facilitate a culture of safety awareness and compliance. You will have good basic administration skills and the ability to utilise and support our workforce in the use of online safety management systems. Additionally, you will be an effective communicator with a consultative approach who truly partners with leaders and workers across the business to proactively identify areas of weakness and risks, and the ability to develop and implement relevant and fit-for-purpose mitigation strategies to ensure compliant outcomes.
