What you'll do The Chapter Lead - Engineering will report to the Head of Engineering in Capacity, Demand, Availability sub-domain under Fulfilment and will be responsible for managing the Engineering capabilities for the members of the Chapter. You will:
Be a service leader and subject matter expert in engineering and technology. Work with the Senior Chapter Lead as well as the Capability Leads across engineering to ensure your team members are realising their potential and contributing maximum value to their squads. As a Leader-Contributor, play an important role working alongside your Chapter members to achieve the mission of their squads. Form partnerships with Solution Architects and Technology leaders across Woolworths Group to help implement the Group eCommerce platform strategy. Lead a chapter that is made up of engineers covering all the specialties required for your squad, which may include data engineers, service engineers, front-end/web engineers, mobile engineers, and test engineers. Manage the members of your Chapter and contribute to the relevant capabilities within your domain. Work with the relevant Practice/Capability Leaders to identify opportunities to build and enhance capability, continuously improve tools/processes, and upskill your team. Focus on team morale, addressing skill gaps and building a high performing team that leverages best practices. Lead strategic capability projects within Chapter time to deliver continuous improvement across the team - your contribution to leading Communities of Practice. Manage recruitment and resourcing for your Chapter in partnership with Domain Leads and Tribe Leads. Partner with squad members to ensure we meet their individual goals and ensure team members in the relevant squads have the needed skill sets to achieve objectives. What you'll bring You will have a demonstrable record of progression throughout your career, having worked in roles of similar complexity, ideally within the retail or complex services or product sector. You will:
Have experience working within a matrixed/Agile organisation and be acknowledged for having built and managed strong relationships. Possess deep resource management experience, a background in engineering and technology, and strong communication skills with the ability to prioritize and problem solve. In addition you will have:
Minimum 10 or more years professional experience with .Net technologies. Experience in large-scale enterprise environments that require building multiple web services and delivering outstanding performance for the end-user. A dedication and a keen interest in building Clean Architecture systems which process high volumes of data and communicate via Event Driven technologies. Strong experience with Docker, Kubernetes and other containerization technology. A strong understanding of the best CI/CD and GitOps practices, and exposure to a variety of tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, ArgoCD, Rancher Fleet, etc. Proficient with cloud services in either of the major cloud providers Azure/GCP/AWS. (Azure experience is preferred) Solid experience with NoSql database systems such as MongoDB. What you'll experience An attractive remuneration package.
