Occupational Health & Safety (Human Resources & Recruitment) Full time Pormpuraaw Aboriginal Shire Council is seeking an experienced WHS & Risk Manager to join our team. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining robust health, safety and risk management systems to support our Council operations in Pormpuraaw, Far North Queensland.
What you'll be doing Oversee the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the council's WHS and risk management policies, procedures and programs.Conduct risk assessments and provide guidance on the identification, assessment and mitigation of workplace health and safety risks.Deliver WHS training and awareness programs to employees to promote a strong safety culture.Ensure the council's compliance with all relevant WHS legislation and regulations.Investigate and report on incidents and accidents, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.Collaborate with management and employees to identify and address WHS and risk management issues.Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on the council's WHS and risk management performance.What we're looking for Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety or higher qualification – Mandatory.Minimum of 3 years of experience in WHS and risk management, preferably within local government or a public sector environment.Comprehensive knowledge of WHS legislation, codes of practice and risk management frameworks/principles applicable in Queensland.Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective WHS and risk management systems.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks.Excellent communication and management skills.Commitment to promoting a positive safety culture and continuous improvement.What we offer Good remuneration with staff housing provided as a non-cash benefit.Ongoing professional development and training opportunities.Supportive team environment.Opportunities to contribute to the local community and make a positive impact.About us Pormpuraaw Aboriginal Shire Council is a local government authority responsible for the administration and development of the remote Indigenous community of Pormpuraaw, located on the western coast of Cape York Peninsula in Queensland.
