At the forefront of cancer control, Professor Karen Canfell and her team play a pivotal role in supporting policy, practice and decision-making for innovative cancer solutions. Their groundbreaking work has led to the transformation of Australia's National Cervical Screening Program, which transitioned to HPV testing in 2017, positioning Australia as the first country expected to eliminate cervical cancer as a public health issue.
Professor Canfell's team also leads Compass , Australia's largest-ever clinical trial with 76,000 women— the first trial worldwide to assess cervical screening in an HPV-vaccinated population. Through her leadership, we're shaping the future of cancer control both domestically and internationally.
A key partner in the WHO Cervical Cancer Elimination Modelling Consortium (CCEMC) , the team's work on the economic benefits and impact of cervical cancer elimination is cited in the World Health Organization's strategic plan.
Your key responsibilities will be to: manage overall project organisation, including defining roles, responsibilities, and performance indicators for project staff
develop and communicate the project charter, ensuring clarity and common understanding of project objectives and deliverables
establish and communicate the project management methodology, processes, and templates to the project team
develop workforce plans and assign staff with the necessary skills and experience to support project implementation
design project processes and operating models to support project plans and governance structures
review processes continually to implement improvements and streamline processes.
manage project activities and deliverables within budget and agreed time frames, making necessary adjustments as needed
provide effective leadership of project staff, including performance management, workload allocation, coaching, and training
About you a strong understanding of cancer patients and populations, and in-depth knowledge of population health and health services research methodologies.
demonstrated experience in management of research implementation and/or philanthropic projects, such as initiatives supported by World Health Organisation (WHO), and/or other large not for profits or government agencies.
demonstrated experience working with multi-disciplinary teams
demonstrated experience in a large, complex health research organisation
proven administration experience and in the development and improvement of administrative processes.
financial management experience, including budget management
postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
excellent written and verbal communication skills including advanced stakeholder skills
