About NEMICS: NEMICS is one of nine cancer services improvement networks funded by the Victorian Department of Health. We deliver strategic cancer services improvement aligned with the Victorian Cancer Plan, VICS Implementation Plan, Optimal Care Pathways, and local priorities. Our team delivers excellence, innovation, collaboration, and initiatives with impact, utilizing evidence, data, and co-design to deliver innovative cancer services improvement.
NEMICS is hosted by Austin Health and includes member organizations such as Austin Health, Eastern Health, Mercy Hospital for Women, and Northern Health. We have a highly engaged, diverse, and collaborative workforce unified by our purpose to improve cancer patient experience of care and outcomes.
About the role: The NEMICS Service Improvement and Consumer Manager is a senior leadership role responsible for the implementation of cancer services reform, innovative service improvement projects, practice development of NEMICS staff, workforce professional development grants, and consumer engagement activities across a regional network and its member health services. During 2025, this role will support implementation of the National Lung Cancer Screening program and deputize for the NEMICS Director.
About you: Ideally, you'll have:
A tertiary qualification in health with more than three years of experience in cancer services.A qualification in health services management, public health, or health policy.Demonstrated skills and experience in project management at service, organization, and/or statewide level.Demonstrated skills and experience in data collection, management, analysis, and reporting.Demonstrated excellence in project report writing and/or research publications.Demonstrated skills and experience supervising others, e.g., health professionals, students, consumers, and/or volunteers.Demonstrated high-level organization skills with the ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and achieve performance targets.Demonstrated proficiency with information technology, including Microsoft Office and ability to learn new systems.Demonstrated experience working across health sectors and boundaries, e.g., community health, aged care, health services, primary care.Demonstrated experience working in a health program directly funded by the Victorian Department of Health or Australian Government.Demonstrated experience managing healthcare consumers and/or volunteers.Working at Austin Health means enjoying a strong sense of purpose and engaging in meaningful work every day.
