The Transport Manager is accountable for the transport operation function.
Key deliverables include:
Day-to-day operations, financials/budgets performance, customer service delivery, operational performance, continuous improvement agenda, KPIs, people leadership, employee relations, and risk and compliance activities.
You will focus on:
Leading and managing business operations in transport to ensure production standards and customer service requirements are met.
Leading the operations team across day-to-day operations and short to medium-term strategic planning cycles, including an efficient labour plan to meet customer demand.
Managing and optimizing financial performance against budget for each responsible function.
Driving business objectives and KPIs related to labour costs, waste, quality assurance, process efficiencies, customer satisfaction, and other specific goals.
Ensuring compliance with customer specifications and service requirements on all airline accounts, maintaining communication with local customer representatives.
Responsible for people leadership, including recruitment, implementing annual HR activities, performance appraisal, planning, training, communication, and compliance with policies and procedures.
Ensuring compliance with HACCP/food quality, Airport Authority Standards, Quality Assurance, Airline Specifications, Health & Safety, and Security standards.
Leading lean/continuous improvement initiatives.
Supporting operational audits (e.g., airline/customer audits, food quality audits) to meet compliance requirements and driving actions to enhance performance.
About you:
Successful track record in an operational leadership role within Aviation/In-flight Catering, Manufacturing, or Logistics environment.
Experience driving compliance in a heavily regulated environment.
Leadership and stakeholder management experience within a customer-focused organization with a unionized workforce.
Demonstrated experience managing financials, including budgets and P&Ls.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and/or six sigma and continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
Driver's License, MR or HR license.
Ability to gain airside work clearance in Australia.
IT literacy across various systems, planning technologies, and solutions.
Degree qualified preferred in Business, Logistics, or similar.
Ability to lead others, build capability, work effectively under pressure, and solve problems strategically and analytically.
Well-developed communication, written and verbal, influencing, and presentation skills.
Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
