DescriptionThe Traffic Management Manager is responsible for overseeing temporary traffic management measures.
This role combines managerial responsibilities with technical expertise and is named in our Contract Specific Quality Plans.
Key Responsibilities: Traffic Planning and Control:Develop and implement strategies to optimize traffic flow and minimize congestion.Ensure adequate resources are provided for safe working practices and minimum disruption.Analyze traffic patterns and recommend improvements.Liaise with external authorities and contractors to coordinate traffic events.Compliance and Safety:Ensure trained personnel are in place to meet contractual requirements and perform temporary traffic management operations safely.Develop and maintain Method Statements for all activities.Enforce adherence to traffic laws and regulations.Oversee the use and maintenance of traffic control devices.Manage non-conformance processes.Conduct internal and external audits.Team Management:Supervise traffic controllers, site coordinators, and other personnel involved in traffic operations.Provide training and resources to ensure competence and compliance.Schedule shifts and manage workforce deployment effectively.Stakeholder Coordination:Lead and manage day-to-day requirements for MJ Quinn TM/NRSWA works.Coordinate planning and execution of schemes with MJ Quinn and third-party stakeholders.Reporting and Documentation:Monitor and report on traffic management performance metrics.Maintain accurate records of incidents, traffic patterns, and resource allocation.Prepare detailed traffic management plans and budgets.Technology and Innovation:Stay updated on advancements in traffic management technologies and systems.Implement innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and reduce environmental impact.Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree is desirable.
Minimum 2 years of experience in traffic management, logistics, or a similar role.
Certifications include a Full UK Driving Licence, LANTRA Highway Sector Scheme – 12D T7 (M7), and NRSWA Signing, Lighting and Guarding Course – Unit 10 (S1) – Supervisors.
Key Skills: Strong knowledge of traffic management principles and tools.Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., CAD for traffic plans, GIS mapping).Effective communication and leadership abilities.This role may require outdoor work in varying weather conditions and occasional evening or weekend shifts to oversee special events or emergencies.
