About the Role *This is a Fixed Term Position until 31 December 2025* The Team Leader, Business Support leads a team of Coordinators and Officers across all regions, ensuring effective support for operational delivery. Reporting to the Senior Manager, this role is part of the Wider Leadership Group, fostering strong relationships with operational teams, clients, partners, and DTP departments. Key responsibilities include overseeing business support services, managing the team, and driving strategic initiatives and process improvements. The role also involves reviewing procedures, providing expert advice, and liaising with stakeholders to ensure positive outcomes. Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills are essential.

Oversee delivery of effective business support to SRS operational teams and ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Provide and coordinate administrative services, including document preparation, event management, and follow-up on actions. Build strong relationships with stakeholders and manage sensitive or confidential enquiries related to SRS activities. Lead process reviews and implement improvements, fostering innovation and continuous improvement in business operations. Provide leadership and support to the Business Support team, promoting engagement, collaboration, and safe, flexible working. Key Selection Criteria The Department of Transport and Planning is seeking a skilled Team Leader, Business Support to manage a dynamic team of coordinators and officers. In this role, you will oversee the delivery of effective business support across regions, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures. Reporting to the Senior Manager, you will build strong relationships with internal teams, stakeholders, and partners to support the department's strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities include managing the business support team, coordinating administrative services, and driving process improvements to enhance operational efficiency. You will be responsible for reviewing and implementing new procedures, providing expert advice on business processes, and overseeing key projects.

The ideal candidate will have accomplished skills in team and people management, demonstrating the ability to engage staff, optimise workforce effectiveness, and develop team capabilities. Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills are essential, as you will frequently liaise with various departments and external partners. Additionally, you must excel in critical thinking, problem-solving, and project delivery, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and ensure successful outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience Mandatory At least five years' experience in a similar or comparable role supporting a blue collar or operational business, preferably in a government/public service context. At least five years' demonstrated people management experience – preferably managing remote teams. Driver's License Ability and willingness to travel and work across locations within metropolitan and regional Victoria. A relevant Business or Administration certificate or diploma, or other relevant tertiary qualification.
