About the Role Our participant is seeking a motivated and flexible disability support worker to join our team on a casual basis. You must be reliable, trustworthy, and a passionate support worker to join our team at Darra. You are expected to possess strong interpersonal skills to engage and hold conversations with the client.
Your role will involve assisting the participants with ongoing support to help him achieve his goals, community access, and meal preparation. You will need to be comfortable supporting a client utilizing an electric wheelchair and using public transport for community access.
You must be available for shifts on Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 9:30 AM – 2:30 PM.
Clients Supports Needs: Understand the needs, goals, and daily activities of Participants. Use positive reinforcement and other techniques to support Participants in their daily routines. Prompting assistance: personal care, meal preparation, and managing appointments. Physical assistance required with domestic duties and other tasks as required. Develop meaningful and professional relationships with Participants and families. Community access. Qualifications and Skills: Prior experience supporting clients with disabilities is highly desirable. Experience in supporting clients diagnosed with Spina Bifida. Must have a valid driver's license and own reliable transport. Current Paid employee Blue Card (or willing to obtain before employment). Current Paid employee Yellow Card/NDIS Worker Clearance (or willing to obtain before employment). Current First Aid & CPR (or willing to obtain before employment). NDIS 'Worker Orientation' module (or willing to obtain before employment). Full Australian working rights. Smartphone with internet access. Two current (within the past 2 years) professional references from a supervisor will be required. COVID-19 and Flu vaccination certificate.
