As a Senior Asset Engineer, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of renewal and maintenance strategies and plans for company substation primary assets to achieve best practice performance and effectively balance the asset cost, risk and performance over the entire asset lifecycle.
The role monitors, analyses and reports on the performance of substation assets, establishes required spares holdings and conducts reviews of all aspects of the asset portfolio.
The role provides technical strategic advice to the organisation to meet business objectives whilst effectively managing safety, environmental and compliance requirements.
In this role you will manage a subset of the asset types within the responsibility of the team, which includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Substation switchbay equipment including circuit breakers, instrument transformers, disconnectors, surge arrestersPower transformers and auxiliary transformersMedium voltage switchboards and gas insulated switchgear (GIS)Shunt and series reactors, static var compensators, capacitor banks, line series compensation devices, gas turbines, synchronous condensersSwitchyards, drainage, fences, roads, gantry structures, steelwork, compounds, footings, earthing, high voltage cabling, busbars, insulators, online condition monitoring and other supporting infrastructureRequirements:
Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar with extensive experience in engineering practice related to design, maintenance, construction and asset management of relevant assetsSound technical knowledge of the design, construction, operation, maintenance, asset planning and/or analysis of high voltage equipment and supporting infrastructure in substationsSound understanding of the concepts and application of risk managementRelevant experience working in a utility, utility environment or asset intensive industryCommercial acumen and understanding of asset investment justificationKnowledge of regulatory and legal requirements relating to the construction and maintenance of relevant assets, safety issues and the environmentAbility to apply both technical and economic components in the evaluation of options for solution of asset management issuesIf you have the skills and are interested hit the apply now tab and we will call you for a confidential discussion.
