Structural Design Engineer – Mining, Ports & Heavy Industry Company Overview

Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Structural Design Engineer with a strong background in analysis, particularly in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and fatigue. You will work on a diverse range of projects involving both greenfield and brownfield structures, focusing on bulk materials handling systems.
Key Responsibilities Modelling, analysis, and design of structural systems within the mining and heavy industry sectors. Collaborate on local and global projects, including structures for bulk materials handling. Conduct FEA using tools such as SpaceGass , FEMap , Strand7 , and Ansys to evaluate structural integrity and fatigue. Apply Australian Standards (AS 4324.1, AS 4100, AS 1170) to ensure compliance with industry requirements. Select appropriate construction techniques, materials, and standards, interpreting engineering drawings and specifications to ensure project accuracy. Coordinate soil and rock testing & samples to determine load-bearing capacity, compression, and strength to inform safe construction practices. Analyse structural designs for load-bearing capability, ensuring stability and resilience to both static and dynamic forces. Develop detailed cost estimates based on engineering plans. Key Requirements Bachelor's or preferably Master's Degree in Structural or Mechanical Engineering (accredited by Engineers Australia). Ideally 3-4 years of structural - Mechanical design experience in heavy industry. Strong proficiency in FEA and analysis of metal fatigue. Demonstrated experience with Australian Standards (AS 4324.1, AS 4100, AS 1170). CPEng accreditation or working towards it. Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
