The Opportunity: As a Statutory Planning Officer, you'll work with a talented, multi-disciplinary team to help deliver good development for the Shire.
Your role is vital in ensuring the Planning Scheme and legislation are effectively implemented in the interests of our community and customers.
In this role, you will: Review and report on planning applications for land use, development, and subdivision. Assess and process development applications and subdivision plans. Work with our customers and stakeholders to achieve timely and good quality development outcomes. Prepare submissions and present cases at VCAT. Collaborate with other team members to improve processes. Contribute to planning policies and strategies that shape our future. This full-time, permanent role is based in Bairnsdale, with flexible working arrangements available.
What you'll bring to the table: (Key Selection Criteria) Relevant qualifications and experience, including knowledge of current planning policies and legislation. Good interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with staff, public, consultants and statutory authorities. Good knowledge of and the ability to interpret, the various applicable Acts and Regulations relating to Council Planning matters. Ability to investigate, prepare and complete reports on a wide range of planning matters, and make recommendations to management and Council. Capacity to make independent and unassisted decisions. Ability to produce work, which is timely, accurate and to a high professional standard. Ability to work with and guide others in a multi-disciplinary team and be adaptable to change.
