The Manager of SCS is responsible for the day-to-day management and strategic direction of SCS while reporting to the Director, Serious Offenders Group in meeting key outcomes.
The Manager will oversee and lead a team of highly skilled practitioners and staff responsible for the assessment, management and intervention of high harm/complex need offenders.
The Manager of SCS will oversee and provide expert advice to key and influential stakeholders across multiple high level forums within government and the community.

Tertiary qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Criminology, Social Work or a related allied health discipline would be highly desired in this role. Also, possession of post graduate qualifications (or significant progress towards post graduate qualifications) in the relevant area will be highly regarded.
Registration: Where relevant to an applicant's individual discipline full registration or the ability to obtain full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency or equivalent is required. Membership or affiliation with a relevant professional association will be highly regarded.
The essential requirements for this role are: Demonstrated strong experience in leading a service delivery team within a corrections/forensic or similar allied health service environmentA practiced and contemporary understanding of risk management frameworksAbility to identify and manage risk while creating risk mitigating opportunities for the organisationProven ability in building and sustaining operational capacity and capability within a challenging and dynamic environmentComprehensive knowledge of contemporary theorems of offender behaviour, offending typologies and mental health correlates to offending and ability to make, communicate and action evidence based decisions in managing high harm/complex offendersAbility to interpret and apply legislation, policy and procedures to align with organisational objectivesStaff management skills and experience including knowledge of, and demonstrated ability to implement contemporary human resource management practicesExperience in change management and continuous improvement in organisationsOrganisational skills with the ability to set priorities, coordinate activities and meet deadlinesDemonstrated communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills for liaising with management and staff at all levels, to gain commitments and negotiate service delivery, priorities, deadlines, resources and other relevant issuesWritten communication skills, particularly the ability to prepare complex and sensitive reports, briefings, policy papers and submissionsResearch and analytical skills for investigating issues and providing relevant advice for business improvementAbility to understand diverse cultural environments and to effectively communicate with persons from different cultural backgroundsApplications to remain current for 12 months.
