The State Manager for Mental Health plays a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality mental health services across Queensland. This role's key focus involves leading strategic growth and providing strong leadership and support to Mental Health managers state-wide. This role requires a strong commitment to provide better access and outcomes for communities that need us the most. Your role will include:

Operationalising Mental Health aspects of the RFDS Primary Health Care StrategyProviding leadership, support and guidance to mental health managersEnsuring all funded services are delivered through supporting mental health managers with workforce planning, management and recruitment of staffWorking closely with mental health managers to develop operational plans, policies and proceduresManaging state-wide mental health resources within the approved budgetEnsuring mental health managers operate within their approved budget State Manager - Mental HealthAre you a supportive & strong leader with strategic initiative & committed to operational goals? Mental Health and Wellbeing Services at the RFDS (Queensland Section)

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) provides over 12,000 mental health consultations yearly and has the largest mental health service among RFDS sections in Australia.
To ensure quality mental health services for regional, rural, and remote communities, the RFDS (Queensland Section) operates specialised teams offering psychological therapies and tailored programs. The RFDS Outback Mental Health service covers western Queensland, delivering the Drought Wellbeing Service, the Remote Wellbeing Service, and Wellbeing Out West. The Central West Mental Health and Wellbeing Service is based in Longreach and extends its services to surrounding communities. The Far North Mental Health and Wellbeing Service supports communities in the Cape and across Far North Queensland. Furthermore, headspace Cairns provides specialised support and information for young people and is operated by the RFDS (Queensland Section).
 
Essential Skills

As an experienced mental health leader, you will bring resilience and commitment. You should have well-developed skills in building relationships with your teams, executives, multidisciplinary professionals, and external stakeholders. You will be adept at leading remote and dispersed teams and have expert knowledge of the complexities of providing services in remote locations.
You will possess extensive clinical competency in delivering mental health services and have qualifications in Mental Health Nursing, Psychology, Occupational Therapy or Social Work. In addition, you will be registered with AHPRA or the AASW with Mental Health accreditation (where applicable). It is highly desirable to have additional qualifications in Healthcare Management and Leadership. Your skills will include:
Well-developed management skillsAbility to meet credentialing requirements within the area of clinical practiceDemonstrated ability to drive growth and lead changeCommitment to continuous quality improvementComprehensive knowledge of contemporary practice within mental healthDemonstrated skills in analytical and innovative problem-solvingKnowledge of enterprise agreements and legislation applicable to mental healthDemonstrated ability to contribute to strategic planningWhy join us?

Before starting, you will be required to undergo a criminal history check and obtain a blue card.
