The Department of Health is seeking interest from suitably qualified General Surgeons with sub-specialty experience in Upper Gastrointestinal, Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary, and/or Bariatric Surgery for a Staff Specialist (General Surgery) vacancy. This role has been established to improve the delivery of UGI, HPB, and Bariatric surgical services. The clinical work in this role will involve outpatient and elective services in the relevant specialty and sub-specialty fields, as well as acute/emergency cases as part of the Department of General Surgery's Emergency Surgical Unit (ESU). The successful candidate would also be involved in training of registrars, junior medical officers, and students. There are also opportunities to be involved with other teaching, research, and administrative activities.

Day work (with on-call), commencing as soon as possible.
Minimum Requirements:Holds specialist registration; orIs a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) on the specialist pathway.Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an IMG with a recognised overseas specialist qualification and sufficient experience in the speciality.The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer.
