The Role: Establish and implement a consistent approach to the delivery of imprest and medication supply services across the State, supported by an evidence-based policy framework. Balance the need to achieve consistency with the requirement to support regional objectives of the hospital.
Establish and monitor metrics for the performance of the Medicines Supply Chain service, including maintenance of the Tasmanian Health Service minimum stockholding as set based on strategic priorities. Initiate practice change projects to address performance, and provide reports to the Executive Director, Statewide Hospital Pharmacy.
Provide high-level oversight of medicine supply chain activities undertaken within Statewide Hospital Pharmacy, including proactively identifying opportunities to contribute to patient care, and research by undertaking needs analysis, upskilling, process redesign, and partnerships with internal and external organisations.
Extensive experience leading the delivery contemporary pharmacy services in a range of activities, preferably in a hospital setting, including demonstrated understanding of evidence-based practice, clinical governance, clinical risk management, clinical standards, relevant legislation, research and ethics. Extensive high-level experience in the development and management of procedures relating to purchasing, warehousing, goods movements, logistics and occupational health and safety issues for a large, interdisciplinary organisation. Detailed expert knowledge of Commonwealth and State medication and pharmacy related funding systems, practice standards and legislation. Demonstrated leadership, management, analytical, and problem-solving skills including experience in developing and implementing policies and procedures for a broad range of health professionals. An understanding of Pharmacoeconomics and cost-effectiveness, as well as procurement principles and financial management practices as they apply to public hospital medication management. Demonstrated high-level strategic, conceptual, analytical, and creative skills and the ability to understand the political, social, and organisational environment in which pharmacy services operate. Demonstrated communication, interpersonal, negotiation and facilitation skills and the demonstrated ability to establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The Team: Statewide Hospital Pharmacy provides clinical pharmacy services to a number of wards at each public hospital (including ICU, paediatrics, rehabilitation, palliative care, oncology, mental health, general medical and surgical wards). It also provides a number of other services including the manufacturing of aseptic and non-aseptic products, chemotherapy preparation, clinical trials, outpatient dispensing, therapeutic drug monitoring and educational in-services.

Salary: $139,492 per annum + our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No.2 of 2022 Allowances: The following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

Registered with the Pharmacy Board of Australia Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Pharmacy Board of Australia or completion of an overseas qualification eligible for skills assessment through the Australian Pharmacy Council. Applicants should the following are desirable:
Post graduate qualifications in pharmacy and/or management Recognition at Consultant level with the Australian & New Zealand College of Advanced Pharmacy (ANZCAP) in Medicines Supply, Leadership and Management, or another relevant discipline Current Driver's License Applicants should note, the position features:
Regular intrastate travel and occasional interstate travel are required. Participate in provision of pharmacy services or on-call services may be required. May be required to work out-of-hours (overtime) for project implementation tasks or other tasks as required by management. This position may be rostered to work at other sites within the Statewide Hospital Pharmacy Operations Unit if this is mutually agreed by both the incumbent and the manager.
