Details of the offer

The Sponsorship and Events Manager is responsible for delivery of Capital Football's events and driving the organisation's sponsorship strategy.
They will identify and pursue potential sponsors after targeted research as well as conducting short and long term planning and management for events.
Fulltime 12 months contract with possibility of extension.

Prime Responsibilities

Deliver key events including Canberra United home games and Kanga Cup, in line with regulations and policies whilst maximising engagement and participation.
Promote and source opportunities to increase awareness, promote, develop and maintain good external relations to strengthen Capital Football's image.
Develop opportunities and negotiate sponsorship deals for events and other targeted activities/areas of the organisation to increase revenue and continued relationships.
Review, develop and implement efficient administrative systems and processes.

Indicative Duties

Research the current Capital Football sponsorship landscape and develop a new sponsorship strategy in consultation with management.
Review the current Capital Football and Canberra United sponsorship assets and develop a new suite of sponsorship proposals.
Lead the team to ensure all new and existing sponsors are serviced and agreed benefits are delivered to a high standard.
Lead the organisation, conceptualisation, planning and execution of the annual events calendar, inclusive of 11 Canberra United home games, Kanga Cup, Finals Series and Awards nights.
Create targeted activities with the intent of maximising revenue streams at events as well as overseeing the various activities and events that cater to the general Membership and their families.
Prepare and handle events and sponsorship budgets for entire events calendar.
Manage branding and communication of all events as well as being present during key activities and events.
Develop event plans, risk management plans and evaluation documentation for all events.
Develop and implement strategies to increase and enhance volunteer recruitment for Capital Football and Canberra United major events and programs.
Source and develop key relationships with partners such as Club Lime, ACT Government, University of Canberra as well as liaising and negotiating with vendors.
Promote and source opportunities to increase awareness, promote, develop and maintain good external relations to strengthen Capital Football's image, events and brand recall.
Develop opportunities and negotiate the involvement of organisational wide sponsorship deals for both events and other targeted activities/areas to ensure maximum revenue and continued relationships.
Assist with the preparation of media releases and other promotion information including collation of data for annual reports and strategic planning.
Perform all duties as directed by the General Manager or CEO.

Skills and Personal Attributes

Well developed oral and written communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team environment.
Self-motivated with an ability to manage priorities within acceptable time frames and at times with limited guidance.
Organisational skills, time management skills and ability to work positively under pressure and with changing work priorities.
Show initiative in developing practical new ideas and approaches.

Selection Criteria

Essential

Have the right to work in Australia.
(Evidence required) Hold, or ability to gain, an ACT Working with Vulnerable People Card.
Proven leadership ability, with a highly organised approach to leadership.
Demonstrated experience coordinating and managing event delivery.
Strong network of corporate contacts and a track record of securing sponsorship deals.
Proven experience developing and overseeing budgets.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
An ability to work creatively, under pressure and to strict timelines.
Ability to work flexible hours, including after hours and weekends.

Desirable

Tertiary qualifications in Sport Management, Event Management or similar.
Experience in the delivery of large outdoor sporting events.
Knowledge and understanding of football in the ACT and Capital Region.

Essential Requirements Working with Children / Working with Vulnerable People Check Have the right to work in Australia

Desirable Criteria Sports Management / Business Degree
