Engineering - Software (Information & Communication Technology)
Permanent Position Location: Brisbane CBD (4 days in office, 1 day WFH)
Salary: $180,000 incl. superannuation + discretionary bonus
We're partnering with a leading organisation to find an experienced Software Engineering Manager who can lead a talented team and drive the delivery of key software initiatives.
In this hands-on leadership role, you'll be responsible for overseeing a team of Software Engineers, Test Analysts, and Test Automation Engineers, ensuring the successful delivery of important technology projects that align with the company's business objectives.
What You'll Do: Lead and manage a team of 10-20 software engineers and testers. You'll be responsible for team development, mentoring, and ensuring high engagement. You'll also play a key role in recruitment and retention, building a high-performing culture within the IT division. Collaborate with senior IT leaders to develop and execute resource plans and objectives aligned with the IT division's strategic and financial goals. Define, implement, and enforce best practices and standards across the engineering and testing teams to improve efficiency, productivity, and performance. You'll focus on streamlining processes and eliminating friction to ensure teams can deliver at scale. Oversee the delivery of technology systems and applications—both maintenance and enhancements. Ensure that projects are delivered on time, meet technical requirements, and are aligned with business goals. You'll drive the team from project inception to final delivery. Work closely with other IT leaders and business stakeholders to align technical initiatives with broader business objectives. You'll ensure that all key projects are executed with clear, actionable plans and effective communication. What We're Looking For: At least 8 years of experience in managing software engineering and testing teams. You should have a proven track record of building, leading, and developing high-performance teams, particularly in the areas of technology systems maintenance and enhancements. Strong background in modern software engineering principles and methodologies, including microservices, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), DevOps, and API development. You should be comfortable working hands-on with your team and leading technical discussions. You have excellent communication skills and can easily work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You should be able to bridge the gap between engineering teams and business leaders.
