The Social Work Department at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Social Worker First Nations Graduate to join their team.
Under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
Your opportunity Competently deliver services independently or within a multidisciplinary team to consumer groups within the district, as determined through the Health Service Plan and priorities.
Complete all training, development and cultural mentoring activities required for the two-year First Nations Graduate Pathway Program.
About the Team The Social Work Department forms part of the Allied Health and Clinical Support Service Stream delivering a range of high-quality psychosocial services to consumers whose medical care and treatment is being provided through the Service Streams of: Lifespan and Critical Care; and Perioperative, Women's Health and Ambulatory Care; as well as to their families and caregivers.
Our Social Work Service delivers care to patients, families and carers throughout our hospital system as well as in our community and rural based health services. Our Social Workers are members of the treating team and provide a broad range of generalist and specialist services including, counselling, care coordination and guidance regarding: diagnosis and illness management, treatment and recovery processes and referral information.
About our Hospital and Health Service Mackay Hospital and Health Service has 6 hospitals, 2 multi-purpose health services and 4 community health centres that employ more than 3,700 staff. The district covers an area of approximately 90,000km2 and provides services to patients and their families in Bowen, Cannonvale, Clermont, Collinsville, Dysart, Glenden, Mackay, Middlemount, Moranbah, Proserpine and Sarina.
