Job Purpose: The Site Engineer will oversee and manage the construction of cross passages in tunnel projects, ensuring all activities are carried out in accordance with the project specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements. The role requires effective coordination between teams, interpretation of design documents, and maintaining accurate records of progress and compliance.
Key Responsibilities: Project Oversight: Supervise and coordinate day-to-day activities on site, ensuring timely execution of cross passage works in line with project plans and deadlines. Team Management: Lead, mentor, and coordinate site teams, ensuring work is performed safely and efficiently. Manage subcontractors and liaise with other engineering disciplines. Quality Control: Ensure that all construction activities comply with quality standards and project specifications. Conduct inspections and maintain quality assurance records. Technical Support: Interpret and review design drawings, specifications, and construction plans. Provide technical guidance to the team on-site. Safety Compliance: Enforce adherence to Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) standards. Conduct safety audits and risk assessments to mitigate hazards. Documentation & Reporting: Prepare daily/weekly progress reports, update work schedules, and maintain accurate site records. Ensure all pre-construction and construction documentation is complete. Material and Resource Management: Coordinate procurement and delivery of materials and equipment. Plan and monitor the use of resources (materials, labour, equipment) to ensure optimal efficiency. Coordination with Survey Teams: Work closely with survey teams to ensure accurate excavation, cross passage dimensions, and alignment. Verify measurements and oversee as-built documentation. Cross-Disciplinary Coordination: Liaise with other departments, including geotechnical, design, and safety teams, to ensure all aspects of the cross passage work are aligned with the overall project objectives. Traffic Management: Prepare and implement Traffic Management Plans (TMP) and ensure necessary road occupancy permits are obtained as required. Skills & Qualifications: Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Tunnel Engineering, or a related field. Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in tunnel construction, with a focus on cross passages or similar underground works. Technical Skills: Strong understanding of tunnel design, construction methodologies, and civil engineering principles. Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and plans. Software Proficiency: Familiarity with project management and engineering software, such as MS Project, AutoCAD, or similar tools. Certifications: Relevant site safety certifications (e.g., First Aid, OH&S). Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to address site issues and implement effective solutions. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to liaise with teams, clients, and subcontractors. #J-18808-Ljbffr
