Mint Systems and Quality | Occupational Health and Safety, Health and Safety to Work Health and SafetyWorking under limited direction and reporting to the Work Health and Safety Manager, the Senior Work Health and Safety (WHS) Officer supports the delivery of the Mint's work, health and safety program.The Mint's workplace has a range of unique health and safety aspects such as hazardous chemicals and materials, public safety, plant and equipment, and infrastructure.The Senior WHS Officer promotes safe work practices across the Mint.
They perform research and apply their technical knowledge to provide advice regarding risks to employees in their work area.
They are responsible for engaging with internal and external stakeholders including regulators, inspectors, and auditors.The Senior WHS Officer analyses data and identifies improvement opportunities across the integrated management system, developing objectives for short term tasks and contributing to the strategic planning of the Mint Systems and Quality branch.They coordinate procurement activities in accordance with Commonwealth Procurements Rules to meet the objectives of the Health and Safety Work Plan.
The Senior WHS Officer is also responsible for managing site wide events which may include National Safety Week and other wellbeing activities as determined by the Mint's Health and Safety Work Plan.The successful applicant is required to work full-time and on-site.The duties of this position include:Developing and reviewing WHS policies and procedures, safety assessments and risk controls, and providing relevant advice to managers and employees.Supporting the WHS Manager in the delivery of the Health and Safety Work Plan.Coordinating or supporting the Mint's Health and Safety Committee, Health and Safety Representatives, First Aid Officers, and Wardens.Undertaking investigations and audits of the Mint's safety management system, including performing inspections and incident reporting, and managing corrective actions.Ensuring the Mint's safety management system complies with the Work Health Safety Act 2011, Work Health Safety Regulations 2011, relevant codes of practice, and ISO45001:2018.Delivering work programmes including health surveillance monitoring, occupational environmental monitoring, external audits and inspections, induction and business continuity planning.
This may include procurement and contract management in accordance with Commonwealth Procurements Rules.Analysing data and preparing reports on WHS related compliance to present to management and relevant authorities.Determining and coordinating required health and safety training for the Mint, reporting on compliance to relevant work areas.Liaising and developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders including regulators, inspectors, and auditors.Supporting the MSQ branch as required, including undertaking cross-functional tasks.Security clearanceThis position requires a
Baseline
security clearance.
