As an AFP Team Leader you will play a pivotal role in developing people, managing change and influencing behaviours that lead to a supportive culture that respects the perspectives, talents and value of every individual. Consistent with the AFP values, AFP leadership philosophy, organisational reform agendas, AFP corporate business plans and your Performance Development Agreement, the expectation is that you will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet role requirements.
You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments.
What is the role?Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the roles of Senior Team Leader - Program Management within the AFP. We are looking for a motivated, skilled, client-focused Senior Team Leader to lead high performing and multi-disciplined Teams within the AFP's Reform and Improvement Office. The role is based in Canberra; remote working arrangements are not applicable to this position.
Under the direction of the Senior Executive, the EPMO ensures a portfolio of in-scope programs and projects are designed, aligned, governed and delivered for the maximum impact on the AFP's strategic objectives. You will be highly regarded for your aptitude for strategic and lateral thinking as well as for your capability in distilling and conceptualising information into key insight and infographics for a Senior Executive audience. You will be an effective relationship builder, and verbal and written communicator.
What will you do?The Senior Team Leader - Program Management position will demonstrate capability in line with the AFP's Band 8 Work Level Standards across the following requirements and responsibilities:
Lead a skilled and multi-disciplined Team to develop accurate, engaging and trusted insight and infographics for a Senior Executive audience.Work in partnership with both operational and corporate business areas to develop and implement timely, high-quality and consistent portfolio, program and project management advice, recommendations and artefacts.Prioritise, delegate and manage the work of the Team to ensure performance to a consistently high standard.Be responsible for the day-to-day leadership, health and wellbeing, and capability development of Team Members. This includes role modelling critical behaviours that foster collaboration, innovation, change adoption and a positive workplace culture.Exhibit sound judgement and a willingness to innovate and experience with different approaches.Build a team culture that adapts to solving complex and diverse issues.Be forward thinking and self-motivated with a strong record of portfolio, program and project management.Lead by example, embodying the AFP's values and the inclusive culture to which the AFP aspires.You must be an Australian citizen at the time of application.A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.Demonstrated capability and experience (one year minimum) in the preparation of insight, briefing and infographic led reports and presentations for Senior Executive audiences.Demonstrated capability and experience (one year minimum) in leading and contributing to portfolio/program management advice, recommendations and artefacts – in particular reporting, governance and assurance.Professional qualifications in a study discipline directly relevant to portfolio, program and project management.Professional qualifications in a study discipline directly relevant to graphic design.Additional InformationThis position is based in Canberra and successful applicants are expected to be based in the ACT region.
