Based in Canberra, the Council of Capital City Lord Mayors (CCCLM) currently has an exciting opportunity for the key role of Executive Officer. About the CCCLM:

The Council of Capital City Lord Mayors (CCCLM) comprises the Lord Mayors of city councils in seven Australian capital cities and the Chief Minister of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).

With over 50 years of history, the CCCLM provides national leadership and advocacy for the coordinated representation of the unique interests of Australia's capital cities. By fostering collaboration with other levels of government, the CCCLM advances the value these cities contribute to Australia's future through effective advocacy and information sharing.

In this role, as the Executive Officer, you would support the strategic agenda of the Chair and Lord Mayors by managing the day-to-day operations of the CCCLM Secretariat.

Responsible for managing CCCLM activities and to advance its agenda as directed by Lord Mayors and CEOs, this role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and financial acumen.

You will coordinate secretarial functions, working groups, and policy discussions related to Australian Capital Cities, stimulating stakeholder debate and managing a diverse range of relationships with professionalism and resilience. Operating with a high level of autonomy, you will make key decisions, manage Secretariat activities, and ensure objectives are met efficiently.

Key Responsibilities include: Manage CCCLM activities and advance its agenda as directed by Lord Mayors and CEOs.Support rotating Chair and Secretary during their term.Coordinate CCCLM's participation in Government working groups and related activities.Build and maintain relationships with Federal Government staff, NGOs, and businesses.Provide regular activity updates and quarterly reports to Lord Mayors and CEOs.Research, analyse, and report on CCCLM projects and activities.Manage correspondence, meeting arrangements, agendas, and minutes.Support the Policy & Advocacy Advisor with policy input and relationship building.Prepare media releases and handle media liaison.Oversee financial management, records, social media, and website.Disseminate information and maintain communication channels with relevant stakeholders.Administer online tools and track requests distributed to CCCLM Coordinators. To be successful in this role, you will have: Proven extensive experience as an Executive Officer in a similar position.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex issues clearly to diverse audiences.Strong research, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.Knowledge of government functions and current issues in local government relations.Experience in policy development and communication.Understanding of Australian political and policy processes, with the ability to influence outcomes.Ability to lead working groups and manage diverse stakeholders.Experience in project, contract, and budget management.Strong organisational skills for balancing priorities and managing resources.
Also required are relevant tertiary qualifications in public administration, politics, or a relevant discipline, or significant experience in a similar role would also be considered.
