Full-time Temporary with a Possibility of PermanencyDetails: The position is responsible for overseeing and delivering TCCS' School Safety Program, which includes the Ride or Walk to School program, the It's Your Move Safe Cycle program, the Active Streets for Schools program, the School Crossing Supervisor program and other initiatives to support safe school transport.
Through this program schools, school communities, residents, and parent bodies have a single point of contact for coordination of responses to address safety concerns and promote the uptake of active travel.
As a senior leader within TCCS, this role requires a person who can inspire, energise and positively influence team and individual outcomes.
The role is responsible for supervising, managing and motivating a team and providing appropriate support and guidance.
Effective employee engagement skills are a key enabler in the performance of this role as is a values based leadership style.
This position requires a leader with a strong, considered and engaging people focus to successfully deliver and drive a culture of respect and a desire to achieve customer service excellence.
The ideal candidate will possess an innate ability to draw on the right skills in a contextually and environmentally appropriate manner, align team performance and develop capacity to achieve organisational objectives.

The Director, School Safety Program will:
Provide strategic direction and oversee the development, design and delivery of a suite of school transport programs and initiatives that contribute to delivering key government priorities.Provide strategic advice to executives and ministers regarding school transport issues and programs, including in-person briefings, development of business cases, ministerial correspondence, written briefs, advisory notes, arrangements briefs, speeches and letters.Lead the development of innovative initiatives and evaluation programs to reduce traffic congestion and improve road safety around schools, including management of program resources, contracts and budgets.Lead a multi-disciplinary team (technical engineering staff and program managers) to deliver government responses to transport and safety related concerns around schools, including a combination of education, enforcement and engineering measures.Lead a positive and inclusive organisational culture that embodies diversity, continuous improvement and enables effective relationships at all levels.Provide leadership across the Development Coordination Branch as part of the Senior Management Committee to influence the branch governance, structure, reporting and key reform projects.Establish, foster and maintain ongoing strategic relationships with other government agencies, community groups, industry groups, key stakeholders and external suppliers to identify, plan and coordinate high quality customer focused outcomes for ACT schools and the community.This position does involve direct supervision two or more staff.We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where people with diverse thoughts, lived experience, and perspectives can thrive and contribute their unique talents to the ACTPS and ACT community.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:  Tertiary Qualifications or demonstrated experience in one of the following fields is highly desirable: behavioural sciences, health promotion or communications.Driver's licence (class C) is essential.This position does not require a pre-employment medical.This position does not require a Working with Vulnerable People Check, however the ability to obtain one is desirable.Notes: This position is available from 14 November 2024 to 30 June 2025 with a possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency.
