QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government.  It has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities.
About the role You will play a pivotal role in supporting QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry by leading a team of Superintendent's Representatives and support staff, overseeing contract administration from tender to final certification, adhering to all standards and provisions.
Duties and skills involved: Understand and apply contractual obligations honestly and fairly in accordance with the contract terms. Provide contract supervisory services for major construction and engineering projects, including site inspections, regular site meetings, issuing Variation Orders, assessing claims, and ensuring compliance with contract documentation and Building Act requirements. Assist the Superintendent in dispute resolution processes by offering expert advice and support on construction contracts and claims. Implement contract administration policies, procedures, and post-contract evaluation systems as per QBuild standards, ensuring accurate reporting to the Pre-Qualified Contractor Register. Act in alignment with QBuild's procedures for contract administration and ensure compliance with all relevant systems and policies. Maintain effective communication with clients and project teams regarding potential cost, time, and quality concerns while contributing to the improvement of Quality Assurance procedures. Mentor and manage contract support staff, ensuring their performance, adherence to workplace health and safety standards, and application of employment equity principles. Preferred skills and experience/Additional requirements: Knowledge of contract administration processes associated with traditional and non-traditional contracts.
