Permanent positionFull time (80 hours per fortnight + ADOs)Medical Scientist Grade 3-4 (RY9-RZ7)The Alfred, Paula Fox Melanoma and Cancer Centre locationGreat staff benefitsThe Department The Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-cells (CAR-T) Facility is a newly built cleanroom facility at the Paula Fox Melanoma Cancer Centre (PFMCC).
The facility will manufacture innovative cell and gene immunotherapies for patient care in the context of clinical research.
The PFMCC CAR-T Facility will operate under Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) under a Quality Management System in accordance with current government regulations and other applicable standards, including Alfred Health policies.
The Role We are seeking a CAR-T Senior Scientist to participate in the operational activities of the PFMCC CAR-T Facility.
This involves the production of GMP-grade cell and gene therapies, including kit packing, SOP writing, cleanroom manufacturing and facility housekeeping.
The Senior Scientist will be a key member of the team for integrating research/ development projects into GMP manufacturing procedures (technology transfer).
The Senior Scientist will participate in the design, implementation and maintenance of facility operations in line with the Quality and Business unit objectives.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the evolving field of cellular and gene therapies as a member of the Malignant Haematology, Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Services team at Alfred Cancer.
Qualifications and Experience Required The successful applicant will have a Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science), Bachelor of Science or equivalent.
