Senior Project Officer, Recovery Support Program within Emergency Management Great career path opportunity - Fixed term until 30 June 2025 Attractive VPS5 salary between $106,534 to $128,897 plus superannuation DJCS Emergency Management includes the department's emergency management accountabilities delivered through Emergency Management Victoria, Emergency Recovery Victoria, Sector Performance and Reform and emergency management statutory entities and offices. The work of the group supports the emergency management sector to work together and to strengthen the capacity of individuals, communities, government, agencies and business to achieve our shared vision of safer and more resilient communities and to rebuild and recover after an emergency.
Emergency Recovery Victoria - What does the business unit do? Emergency Recovery Victoria (ERV) is responsible for state relief, and state and regional recovery coordination for all emergencies to help communities build back better and emerge stronger. ERV is a business unit within the Department of Justice and Community Safety. Working directly with impacted communities, all levels of government, agencies and industry, ERV coordinates real, effective and timely support that communities need to recover after a major emergency. As well as providing strategic leadership on whole-of-government recovery activities and delivering state recovery outcomes, ERV supports locally led recovery efforts to support councils and ensure that community is at the centre of recovery.
What will the Senior Project Officer, Recovery Support Program do? The Senior Project Officer, Recovery Support Program works within the Programs Branch to advise and manage the delivery of the Recovery Support Program This role will require collaborative work across ERV Regional Teams and the Recovery Outcomes branch to help imbed Recovery Support Program within broader recovery system.
Central to the role is the delivery of the Recovery Support Program for the February 2024 bushfire and storm events The program is a well-established emergency recovery intervention that provides emergency impacted people with a single point of contact to provide information, advice and assistance with grant applications, as well as referrals to appropriate support services.
Key aspects of the role include:
Supporting the project design, management and delivery of the Recovery Support Program for communities impacted by February 2024 bushfire and storm events Developing strong and effective relationships with key government departments and community services agencies commissioned to deliver services to impacted communities  Supporting sound project management and evaluation principles into the design of programs to ensure they are sustainable and effective. What skills and knowledge should the Senior Project Officer, Recovery Support Program have? As our ideal candidate, you will have:
Demonstrated ability to use analytical and conceptual skills to reason through problem and develop plan to meet project objectives. Demonstrated ability to analyse issues from different perspectives and identify and propose workable solutions to problems, implements solutions, evaluates effectiveness and adjusts actions as required. Experience in disaster recovery is desirable. A current Australian State or Territory Driver's License (mandatory).
