Senior Project Officer/Lived Experience AdvisorThe Department of Health plays a critical role in the Victorian health system and is responsible for shaping it to meet the health needs of all Victorians. About the role: The Senior Project Officer/Lived Experience Advisor works as a member of the Mental Health Improvement Program within the Clinical Practice Leadership Unit and has responsibility for delivering large-scale mental health reform initiatives for the State as part of a dedicated team. The initiatives respond initially to the priorities identified by the Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health System and utilise the model for improvement and other evidence-based change methodologies to improve the quality of treatment, experiences and support for Victoria's delivering and receiving mental health and wellbeing care.
The Senior Project Officer/Lived Experience advisor brings their lived experience perspective to the role. This position ensures the views of consumers/carers are central to the design and delivery of the Mental Health Improvement Program's large-scale reform initiatives. Utilising skills in project management and stakeholder engagement, the role contributes to working closely with mental health and wellbeing services and other relevant partners to implement improvement initiatives. Reporting to the Manager of the Adopting Zero Suicide Initiative, the Senior Project officer will work across the Mental Health Improvement Program to ensure the implementation and delivery of Safer Care Victoria's functions and vision.
The successful candidate will be results-oriented, organized and motivated, with a passion for supporting others to achieve measurable and transformative improvements for consumers and their carers/supporters and workforce involved in delivering care.
Knowledge and Skills Understands the beliefs, customs, needs and expectations of both the consumer and carer lived experience communities, and a demonstrated knowledge of intersectional issues impacting consumers and carer/supporters.Has specialist knowledge and experience in working with consumers and carers to design and deliver mental health and/or alcohol and other drug service outcomes, or relevant systemic reform experience in other sectors.Consults, liaises with and influences key stakeholders; produces detailed project plans where objectives are clearly defined and action steps for achieving them are clearly specified; monitors performance against objectives and manages project risks and issues; ensures project objectives are met.Develops long-term plans to influence others and organisational performance; implements strategies to build support from key internal and external stakeholders; uses a variety of different influencing approaches tailored to different stakeholders.Establishes and maintains relationships with people at all levels; promotes harmony and consensus through diplomatic handling of disagreements; forges useful partnerships with people across business areas, functions, and organisations; builds trust through consistent actions, values, and communication; minimises surprises.Well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to express opinions, information and key points clearly and concisely via effective verbal and written communication.Personal Qualities Demonstrate a strong work ethic, are reliable, punctual, pay attention to detail and show commitment and purpose.Approaches work tasks carefully, thoroughly, and in order.
