About the Building Commission NSW Building Commission NSW has been established after the NSW Government recognised the substantial progress made by Fair Trading and the Office of the Building Commissioner in delivering once-in-a-generation reforms of the building and construction industry. The new commission will not only be the industry regulator but also a collaborator with consumers and industry to ensure standards, capabilities, capacity, and resilience continue to be lifted across the sector to deliver quality homes and meet the state's housing targets.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the next phase of the Building Commission within NSW. The Policy team is responsible for driving the NSW Government's building and construction reform agenda.
The policy team engages with a wide range of subject matter experts across industry, the community, the Department of Customer Service, and other government agencies to develop a comprehensive evidence base to inform Government decisions on housing and building industry issues. The team also comprehensively reviews recent research and innovative solutions to create future-focused policy to support the Minister in developing and implementing legislation.
There will be opportunities to work on other innovative policy-related projects within Building Commission NSW. The current pipeline of reforms has a significant amount of supporting material requiring development and project management, so if you enjoy variety and have an agile mindset, then this role could be for you. The successful candidate must also be highly organised, proactive, and practical.
Key responsibilities Developing and maintaining stakeholder and customer relationships through effective communication, negotiation, and issues management to ensure project deliverables are met. Reviewing and developing the project pipeline and establishing project documentation and support for future reforms. Managing the EOI process for third-party engagements as required. Managing project tracking and financial reporting, ensuring compliance with governance and quality requirements. Helping to deliver key assets and resources to support reforms, including subordinate regulatory materials. Reviewing and establishing internal policy projects as required. Continuously monitoring and evaluating all aspects of project implementation, including risk and contingency management, benefits realisation, project impact, and quality measures, to identify and address issues, assess project progress and effectiveness, and achieve project outcomes. Key challenges Influencing and negotiating key timeframes in line with competing demands, including parliamentary, stakeholder and internal workloads and timelines. Working closely with other project teams to ensure delivery of key reform projects. To be successful in this role, you will: Have exceptional project management capability and experience. Have strong verbal and communication skills. Show demonstrated ability to liaise and work with a range of internal and external stakeholders. Show demonstrated ability to manage and deliver on competing priorities. Be a high-level and strategic thinker. Take initiative and think on your feet.

Salary Clerk Grade 9/10, with the base salary for this role starting at 120,859 base plus superannuation.
