About Inland Rail
Inland Rail is a once-in-a-generation project that will complete the backbone of Australia's freight rail network. It will enhance supply chains by providing a transit time of 24 hours or less for freight trains between Melbourne and Brisbane. Inland Rail will connect regional Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland to markets more efficiently, drive substantial cost savings for producers and consumers, and deliver significant economic benefits. About the opportunity
Join a dynamic team at the forefront of infrastructure development as a Senior Project Manager - Integration. In this role, you will lead and manage the seamless integration of complex project components, ensuring alignment across multiple disciplines to deliver successful project outcomes, ensuring the seamless integration of project works into the operational railway network. This role is essential in maintaining governance oversight, ensuring that project management practices, safety, operational performance, and stakeholder engagement are comprehensively addressed throughout the project lifecycle.
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Ensure that railway safety, performance, and material operational impacts are fully integrated into the decision-making process throughout the project lifecycle. Provide governance oversight to the Inland Rail and ARTC projects, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and program outcomes. Develop and manage plans, schedules, budgets, and risks associated with program integration to ensure successful project outcomes. Schedule and coordinate regular and ad-hoc governance meetings, ensuring effective time management and stakeholder engagement. Prepare and distribute agendas, decision papers, and relevant meeting materials in advance to ensure all participants are well-prepared. Collaborate with project managers, team leaders, and stakeholders to understand their needs, address concerns, and support the preparation of meeting papers and decision documents. Ensure all governance forums and decision-making processes comply with established governance frameworks and the agreements governing relationships between IRPL, ARTC, and the Federal Government. Lead and support program integration activities, including Configuration Change, Network Migration, Integrated Assurance, and Operational Readiness, ensuring these works are delivered safely and within budget and schedule constraints. Collaborate with key external stakeholders, including the asset owner, maintainer, and operator, to optimise project delivery and ensure successful integration into existing operations. About You
To excel as a Senior Project Manager - Integration, you need strong soft skills, including leadership, effective communication, problem-solving, and collaboration. Adaptability and conflict resolution are key for managing diverse teams and navigating challenges. Emotional intelligence, time management, strategic thinking, and attention to detail are also essential to ensure seamless project execution and alignment with organizational goals. These skills are vital for driving successful project integration.
To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate: Experience in developing and executing Project Governance forums and processes. Project management experience in a multi-disciplinary engineering or infrastructure environment. Experience in railway engineering, construction and/or operations. Ability to work and excel in an organisational matrix structure working across functional teams and multiple projects at different stages of the project life cycle. Ability to negotiate and influence a variety of stakeholders with competing interests. Exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills. Highly developed problem resolution and interpersonal skills. Experience in developing, negotiating and managing commercial agreements of varying complexities. Experience in a government agency or delivery authority with a focus on infrastructure development and delivery. Demonstrated ability to work successfully across a diverse stakeholder group including the private and public sectors, special interest groups and Federal Government sectors.
