About Inland Rail

Inland Rail is a once-in-a-generation project that will complete the backbone of Australia's freight rail network.
It will enhance supply chains by providing a transit time of 24 hours or less for freight trains between Melbourne and Brisbane.
Inland Rail will connect regional Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland to markets more efficiently, drive substantial cost savings for producers and consumers, and deliver significant economic benefits.

About the opportunity As the Senior Planner, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the Inland Rail Project Schedules, covering all phases from development and procurement to construction, commissioning, handover, and operation.
Additionally, you will support the coordination and management of the schedule, ensuring timely project completion in accordance with required specifications, timelines, and budgets.
A key part of your role will be facilitating the seamless integration of individual project schedules into the overarching Program schedule.

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Provide comprehensive planning and scheduling services to the portfolio delivery team, encompassing all activities and interfaces related to development, procurement, and construction from Project Initiation through Close-out.Support option assessments and schedule refinement through detailed analysis of work packaging strategies, alternative procurement methods, cash flow projections, project budgets, completion timelines, contractor performance, and possession scenarios.Review and evaluate external schedules to ensure compliance with program requirements, integrate them into overall project schedules, and assist in assessing time-related claims.Prepare schedule change reports for leadership review and approval, adhering to tight monthly update cycles.
Produce progress reports highlighting project issues and impacts, and facilitate scheduling meetings with delivery teams, functional support teams, and external contractors.About You

To succeed in this role, you will need a strong combination of technical expertise, effective communication skills, and a strategic mindset.
You must be outcomes-focused, adaptable, highly organized, and possess excellent time management abilities.

To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate: Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or equivalent relevant experience.Proven project planning experience in large-scale programs, preferably major linear infrastructure projects, with a focus on approvals and the engineering phases of delivery.Proficiency in using Primavera P6 planning tools, including cost and resource-loaded schedules, earned value reporting, and forensic analysis techniques.Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications for report and presentation development; experience with Power BI or similar tools is highly desirable.Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, effectively prioritizing multiple tasks while meeting tight deadlines.What you'll be joining You will join one of the largest infrastructure programs in Australia.This project will generate thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in local investment, boosting regional economies and communities right along the alignment.Inland Rail is proud to have over 40% female representation and we would like to see these numbers grow.Inland Rail is an Agile working environment in our State-of-the Art office embracing flexible working conditions.Inland Rail adopted a collaborative approach to the delivery of the project, leading all parties involved to work toward the same goal.
