The Role The Senior Project Engineer Marine is responsible for providing technical support in the development and safe execution of various marine packages including jetty construction, dredging and associated port readiness scopes.
The successful candidate will need to be able to:
Support and coordinate tendering of packages. Develop tender documentation including scopes of work to be issued for tender. Clarification of tenders, recommend preferred bidder and sign-off on Request for Award (RFA) including developing evaluation criteria establishment and tabulating final results. Review fully conformed contract for technical compliance. Preparation of request for approval documentation and necessary support papers. Oversee and review of detailed design process and review drawings, RFI's and enquiries relating to technical compliance. Coordinate the internal BCI engineering and engineering consultant design reviews. Support value engineering and cost reduction opportunities. Ensure inspection and confirmation the contractor site facilities are established and adequate for size of team. Support construction area compliance to the conditions of the Ground Disturbance Permit Approval for any work. Ensure establishment and as required, attendance of site construction kick-off meetings and set expectations for contractor is onsite. Monitor construction activities on a weekly basis including liaising with on-site owner's team engineers and via regular site visits. Support or recommend any design changes or construction changes depending, whether its within authority limit. Support regular (monthly) contract package review meetings with direct reports and support functions to monitor package contractor performance against contract. Support reporting requirements for each contract package. Support review of contractual claims and ensure involvement of Contracts Manager and direct any response to contractual claims, where escalated by direct report team. Support preparation of all manuals, datasheets, bill of materials, as built drawings and other technical information are collated and properly handed over to BCI. About You: We are seeking a candidate who has a tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil etc as appropriate for role). A proven track record in execution of marine projects, particularly jetty's and/or dredging. Ideally, at least 5+ years of experience in Project Engineering delivering similar type of packages, preferably within the Mining sector and advanced analytical comprehension and technical skills with considerable experience in supporting large capital projects with engineering and construction know how.
