The Opportunity:
Parklife Metro have a great career opportunity available for an experienced Senior Project Engineer to come onboard and assist the Project Manager to ensure the safe and successful completion of the project on schedule, within budget and to the specified quality.
Employed by Webuild, the role on offer is a full-time role based on-site in Badgerys Creek.
This is an ideal next step opportunity for someone who has a strong background in guiding a team of Graduate Engineers, Site Engineers & Project Engineers, experience with all things civil and utilities, and is ready to lead a team to success.
Responsibilities:
Manage a team of Graduate Engineers, Site Engineers & Project Engineers
Provide support and advice on planning and design suitability and options, the use of materials, resources, components or systems within the project, and construction practices and problems to ensure project success, value for money and best practice are achieved
Manage the operational aspects of project delivery to ensure the effective and efficient use of systems and processes involved with all phases of the project management model
Ensure site specific management plans are implemented
Monitor and control documentation flow between Engineers, Consultants, Subcontractors and Parklife Metro JV ensuring that all parties are working from current documentation
Ensure the construction related aspects of the project meet or exceed the required performance targets in relation to time, cost and quality
Review the subcontractors construction programme(s) and assist in identifying critical areas and integrate these into the Project program
Maintain and monitor the progress of work and advise the Area Manager of significant changes and proposed remedial action
Manage cost control for certain aspects of the project in order to ensure the project meets its performance targets in relation to budget
Identify and forecast risks and opportunities for the project package of works
Identify key areas of variances from the estimate
Encourage commitment from team members to the achievement and/or bettering of project budget
Monitor cost versus budget and assess allowances made for risk items
Produce and distribute daily costings and identify patterns and trends
Review, recommend subcontractor and supplier progress payments and provide input to cost recoveries and subcontractor variation claims
Negotiate in conjunction with the Area Manager final prices for subcontractors ensuring that subcontracts are then formalised prior to the commencement of site works
Conduct team/toolbox meetings and perform as a member of the team to both employees and staff
Encourage and support people to think outside the square and to develop their ideas further
Lead, support and manage the site staff to ensure they are fulfilling their role, responsibilities and specific tasks
Interact with both on site personnel and other parties in an effective manner to inspire a positive work environment
Encourage, motivate, lead and provide skills training for on-site personnel, so as to develop and utilise the full scope of their abilities to enhance individual team performance and career opportunities
Maintain regular site meetings to foster understanding, participation and enthusiasm
Criteria:
Recognised tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or similar discipline
Minimum 7+ years of experience (post graduating) as an Engineer
Presented problem solving/analytical skills
The ability to cooperate with others, within and outside the team, establishing an efficient work relationship and fluid communication that will contribute to the achievement of objectives.
Competent in planning and organising work schedules
Working knowledge of HS&E requirements and implementation of same
Clear communication – verbal and written
Be open minded seeking innovation
High attention to detail
